Get your free estimateTrane Mini-Split Installation: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide
If your Trane mini-split indoor unit has stopped cooling, is leaking condensate onto the wall, or the blower wheel has seized, we install Trane-compatible mini-split systems and replacement heads throughout Las Vegas, typically for $3,500 – $7,500 depending on the tonnage and number of zones. We keep common Trane-compatible components on the truck, and most single-head swaps are done in a day. The usual discovery moment is a homeowner walking into a 78-degree living room on a 110-degree afternoon and seeing the indoor unit blinking an error code, or worse, a pool of water under the wall-mounted head.
We’re an independent HVAC company, not affiliated with Trane, but our technicians are trained on nine major residential brands including Trane, Carrier, and Lennox. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already been quoted something that didn’t make sense or you’re trying to figure out if the unit is worth saving. Tell me what it’s doing, and I’ll tell you what it costs – no guesswork, no runaround.
Which Trane Models This Applies To
Trane’s mini-split lines in the Las Vegas market break down into three families: the Mitsubishi-built Trane/Mitsubishi Electric ductless units (often badged as Trane but carrying a Mitsubishi model prefix like NTX or NTXAM), the Trane D-Series (models like 4TXM22, 4TXM18), and the newer Trane ComfortLink and Precedent ductless systems that Trane brought out in the mid-2010s. The compatibility gotcha that catches most people: a Trane D-Series indoor head will not talk to a Trane ComfortLink outdoor condenser, even on the same tonnage. The control boards speak different protocols. If you have a mismatched pair, the system will run for a few days, throw a communication error, and shut down.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question, we’re blunt: for circuit boards, blower motors, and the thermistor sensor packs, we prefer OEM Trane replacements. The aftermarket boards we’ve tested run hot in Las Vegas summers, and a board that fails at 115 degrees costs you more than the savings. For air filters, remote controls, and drain line components, quality aftermarket equivalents are fine and we stock them. When we arrive, we read the model number directly off the indoor unit’s side label, not the invoice or a blurry photo.

Signs Your Trane Mini-Split Installation Is Failing
- Error codes blinking on the indoor unit. A P1 code on most Trane ductless systems means the indoor coil thermistor has failed or the refrigerant charge is off. The thermistor is a $40 part; the refrigerant issue is not.
- Water running down the wall below the head. In Las Vegas, this is almost always a clogged condensate drain line full of desert dust and biofilm. If it’s been leaking for weeks, you may also have water damage behind the drywall, which changes the repair scope.
- The blower wheel squeals or grinds. Trane blower wheels accumulate fine desert grit that wears the bearing surfaces. By the time you hear it, the motor is usually on borrowed time.
- Uneven cooling between rooms. One head blowing ice-cold, another blowing lukewarm, often points to a failing expansion valve or an improper line set installation, not a refrigerant leak.
- The outdoor unit runs constantly but the indoor head barely moves air. Classic symptoms of a failing indoor blower motor or a restricted coil. The coil may be impacted with a mix of dust and pet hair we see constantly in older Las Vegas homes.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Installed mini-split replacement work in Las Vegas runs $3,500 – $7,500 depending on system size, number of zones, and whether we’re reusing existing line sets or running new ones. A single-zone 1-ton head swap with a working line set usually lands at the lower end. A two-zone system with new line sets, new condensate pumps, and a pad relocation sits at the upper end.
That price includes the equipment, all labor, the line set, the condensate line, the electrical whip, and a written price before we touch a tool. It also includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the installation fails within a full year, we come back and make it right at no charge. The guarantee is on paper before our technician leaves. Not verbal. Not conditional. Printed.
DIY or Call Us?
If your Trane mini-split is throwing a code or leaking, there are two things you can safely check yourself: the air filter (pull it, hold it up to a light, replace if you can’t see through it), and whether the drain line is visibly clogged at the exit point. That’s where we’d start too.
What you should not do is open the unit. Mini-splits run high-voltage DC power to the indoor head, and the fan motor capacitors can hold a charge even with the breaker off. We’ve been called to more than one Las Vegas home where a homeowner got into the electrical panel with a YouTube video and a multimeter and made a $300 repair into a $1,800 board replacement. If it’s not the filter, call us at (725) 726-3813 and we’ll get a technician out with the right parts on the truck.
FAQs
In Las Vegas, a properly installed Trane mini-split system should last 12 – 15 years. The desert heat means the outdoor unit’s compressor and inverter board work harder than they would in a coastal climate, and the fine alkaline dust accelerates coil corrosion that we don’t see in other markets. If your unit is past 12 years old and the indoor head is failing, you’re often better off replacing the whole system than rebuilding a tired one. Call (725) 726-3813 and we’ll give you an honest read.
Yes, if the failure is isolated to a replaceable component like a thermistor, blower motor, control board, or condensate pump. We repair those daily. If the coil has corroded through or the unit has suffered repeated refrigerant leaks, replacement is usually cheaper over three years than chasing repairs. We’ll show you the failed part and explain the numbers either way.
A single-zone head replacement takes one technician about 4 – 6 hours including evacuation and refrigerant charge. A two-zone system runs a full day. We arrive in the window we give you, protect your floors, and leave the job site cleaner than we found it. That’s The Kingswell Way: say the price before the work, show up in the window given, leave the place clean, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails.
We stock common Trane-compatible blower motors, thermistors, control boards for the D-Series and Mitsubishi-built lines, condensate pumps, and remotes. For less common ComfortLink parts, we source direct from our Las Vegas supply houses with next-day availability. We also keep parts for Carrier and Lennox systems because half the homes in this valley have mixed-brand setups.
