Goodman heat pump service in Las Vegas typically runs $150 to $650 for most repairs, with parts and labor included in that number. We stock Goodman-compatible replacement parts on our trucks and can usually diagnose and fix the issue the same day you call. Most homeowners discover something’s wrong the hard way: the system runs but doesn’t cool, makes a metallic rattle from the outdoor unit, or trips a breaker on the hottest afternoon of the year.
We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Goodman. But we work on their equipment every week, and we know the quirks of how these heat pumps hold up in a desert climate where outdoor units sit in 115-degree heat for months at a time.
Which Goodman Models This Applies To
We service the full Goodman heat pump lineup, including the GSZ, GSZB, GSZC, and GSZH series, plus the older SSZ and SZ units still running in plenty of Las Vegas homes. The outdoor unit’s model number is printed on a metal rating plate on the cabinet, usually on the back or side facing away from the house. That number tells us the exact compressor type, refrigerant charge, and coil spec for your unit.
Goodman parts compatibility is tighter than homeowners expect. A capacitor from a GSZ14 won’t necessarily match a GSZ16 even if they look identical. The defrost control board is another one we see mismatched often, because Goodman changed board revisions mid-series without always changing the outer part number. We match parts to your exact model and serial number before anything goes on the truck. OEM parts carry Goodman’s own warranty; quality aftermarket equivalents can save 20 to 30 percent and often come from the same overseas manufacturers. We’ll show you both options and let you decide.

Signs Your Goodman Heat Pump Service Is Failing
- Outdoor unit runs but the house doesn’t cool. This usually points to a failed compressor capacitor or low refrigerant charge. The fan spins, so it looks alive, but the compressor never actually starts.
- Ice on the outdoor coil in summer. In Las Vegas heat this is almost always low refrigerant or a failed defrost sensor, not normal operation. Goodman coils are thick, but a slow leak will starve them eventually.
- Unit short-cycles or trips its breaker. A failing contactor will chatter and arc, and the breaker becomes the weak point. We see this most often on 2015-era Goodman GSZ14 units.
- Squealing or grinding from the outdoor cabinet. The condenser fan motor bearings dry out fast in desert dust. Once the noise starts, the motor usually fails within four to six weeks.
- The thermostat reaches temperature but the heat pump won’t shift to defrost. A defective defrost control board or sensor means ice builds up, airflow drops, and the system works harder for less cooling.

DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: confirm the breaker is on, make sure the thermostat is set to “cool” and not just “auto,” and swap out a dirty air filter. That’s where we’d stop. The capacitor inside your outdoor unit holds a charge strong enough to cause serious injury or worse, even with the power disconnected. Contactors and control boards sit on line-voltage circuits that don’t forgive mistakes. If you’re turning screws inside the cabinet, you’re past the point where a YouTube video makes you safe.
If the system’s making noise, short-cycling, or blowing warm air, call us at (725) 726-3813. We’ll diagnose it, show you the written price before anything gets touched, and fix it right. Victor Mancini and the crew handle Goodman repairs the same way we handle every other brand: with the part matched to the model, and the work backed in writing.
FAQs
A well-maintained Goodman heat pump in Las Vegas lasts 10 to 14 years on average, with outdoor components like capacitors and fan motors typically needing replacement at the 5 to 7 year mark due to sustained heat exposure. Units shaded from afternoon sun on the west side of a home tend to run a few years longer. Call (725) 726-3813 for an honest assessment of your system’s remaining life.
Almost never, and we won’t try to bandage something that’s designed to be swapped. A capacitor, contactor, fan motor, and defrost board are replaceable parts, not repairable ones, and attempting a patch job just delays the failure and risks compressor damage. The written quote we hand you before starting is for the right fix, done once.
Most part replacements for a Goodman heat pump take 45 minutes to 2 hours once the part is in hand, with the slower jobs usually involving refrigerant recovery or defrost board programming. We stock the most common Goodman parts on our trucks in Las Vegas, so many jobs are done the same day you call.
We stock the most common Goodman failure parts on our trucks: capacitors, contactors, defrost control boards for the GSZ line, and condenser fan motors. Less common items like specific compressor models may take a day to source locally. Either way, you get a written price and a firm arrival window before we start.
