Get your free estimateDaikin Mini-Split Installation: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Daikin mini-split installation components across Las Vegas, with most complete installations running $3,500 – $7,500 depending on the system size and layout. If your Daikin unit has a failed compressor, leaking evaporator coil, or a dead inverter board, we can usually get the right part matched to your model and installed within two to three business days. The most common call we get sounds like this: the indoor unit is blowing warm air, the outdoor unit is making a grinding noise, or the system threw an error code and shut down entirely.
Here’s the reality of Las Vegas weather: a mini-split that works fine in March gets pushed to its absolute limit by June. That’s when the weak components show themselves. A compressor that’s been quietly wearing down for three summers finally gives out on a 112-degree afternoon. An inverter board that’s been coping with voltage fluctuations from the grid finally trips for good. We see it every season, and we’ve built our parts inventory around what actually fails out here.
Which Daikin Models This Applies To
Daikin’s mini-split lineup spans several series lines, and the installation components aren’t always interchangeable between them. The Aurora series (often sold as the 17, 19, and 24 SEER models) uses different inverter boards and compressor specs than the Comfort series or the older RXL and FTX lines. The model number on your outdoor unit’s data plate tells us everything we need: the first letters identify the series, the numbers give us the capacity in BTUs, and the suffix tells us the revision.
Here’s a compatibility gotcha we’ve learned the hard way: Daikin revised their inverter board design between the 2018 and 2021 model years on several Aurora series units, and the newer board will not communicate with the older indoor unit’s firmware. If you have a 2017 outdoor unit mated to a 2017 indoor unit, we need the 2017-generation board, not the current one. This is exactly the kind of mismatch that causes a “repaired” system to throw error codes again two weeks later.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: for Daikin specifically, we recommend OEM parts for anything electrical (inverter boards, fan motors, sensors). Daikin’s proprietary communication protocols between indoor and outdoor units are picky. A generic aftermarket board might physically fit and still refuse to talk to the system. For mechanical parts like drain pans, fan blades, and line sets, quality aftermarket equivalents from suppliers like DiversiTech work fine and can save you $50 – $150. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Daikin, but we’ve been working on their equipment since it first started appearing in Las Vegas homes, and we’ll tell you honestly when a generic part will do and when it won’t.

Signs Your Daikin Mini-Split Installation Is Failing
- Warm air from the indoor unit while the outdoor unit runs constantly. This usually points to a refrigerant leak in the evaporator coil or a failing compressor that’s running but not building pressure. In Las Vegas, coil corrosion from our hard water and dust is a bigger factor than in coastal climates.
- Error codes on the remote or indoor unit display. Daikin’s U4 code (communication failure between indoor and outdoor units) is the one we see most. It’s frequently a failing inverter board or a damaged communication wire, both of which are straightforward for a trained tech to diagnose.
- Grinding, buzzing, or rattling from the outdoor unit. A compressor with worn bearings will buzz before it dies. A failing fan motor makes a dry, rattling sound. Either way, running it longer only makes the repair more expensive.
- Short cycling: the system starts and stops every few minutes. This can be a failing thermistor (temperature sensor) feeding bad data to the control board, a clogged drain line triggering the water-level safety, or a compressor on its way out. It also drives your electric bill up fast in a Las Vegas summer.
- Water dripping from the indoor unit or staining on the wall below it. A cracked drain pan or clogged condensate line is the culprit most of the time. In our dry climate, the condensate evaporates fast, so the mineral residue left behind clogs lines quicker than humid regions.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Mini-split installation replacement in Las Vegas runs a wide range because the part itself varies so much. A drain pan or fan blade swap is on the low end, usually $150 – $300 installed. An inverter board replacement lands in the $400 – $750 range depending on the model. A full compressor replacement runs $1,200 – $2,500, and when you’re looking at that number, we’ll always show you the math on whether a new outdoor unit makes more sense than repairing a 10-year-old one.
| Daikin Mini-Split Part | Typical Installed Cost in Las Vegas |
|---|---|
| Drain pan replacement | $150 – $300 |
| Fan motor (indoor or outdoor) | $250 – $450 |
| Thermistor / temperature sensor | $180 – $320 |
| Inverter board / control board | $400 – $750 |
| Evaporator coil | $900 – $1,800 |
| Compressor replacement | $1,200 – $2,500 |
| Full system replacement | $3,500 – $7,500 |
Every price we quote includes the part, labor, refrigerant handling (if applicable), and disposal of the old component. You get the written price before we start, and that number doesn’t change at the door. That’s the Kingswell Way, and Victor Mancini has run Cold Harbour on that principle since 2003. Every repair also carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if the part fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Mini-split systems run on 240 volts and contain high-pressure refrigerant. The electrical and refrigerant work on these units is genuinely dangerous. Please don’t open the outdoor unit’s electrical compartment unless you’re trained to work on live circuits safely. A wrong move on an inverter board can kill you, and releasing refrigerant into the atmosphere is illegal and damaging to the system. We say this not to scare you into a call, but because we’ve seen the aftermath of well-meaning DIY attempts.
What you can safely do: check the air filter on the indoor unit, confirm the breaker hasn’t tripped, and clear leaves or debris from around the outdoor unit. Those are the limits. If the system is still misbehaving after that, call us at (725) 726-3813 and tell us what it’s doing. We’ll give you a straight answer on the likely cause and what it costs to fix before we ever send a truck.
FAQs
In our climate, you can expect 12 – 15 years from a well-maintained Daikin mini-split, though compressors and inverter boards sometimes fail earlier due to the extreme summer heat and dust. Regular coil cleaning and keeping the filters changed extends the life considerably.
Some parts, like a clogged drain line or a loose electrical connection, can be repaired. But components like inverter boards, thermistors, and fan motors are sealed units that get replaced, not rebuilt. We’ll always tell you which category your issue falls into before quoting the work.
Most replacements take 60 – 90 minutes once we’re on site with the part. If we have to order a specific Daikin board or coil, plan on two to three business days from diagnosis to completion.
We carry common Daikin thermistors, capacitors, drain pans, and fan motors on the truck. Inverter boards and compressors are usually ordered same-day from our local supplier and arrive within one to two business days. We also stock parts for Carrier, Trane, and Lennox systems.
