AfterFurnace Replacement in Las Vegas, NV
A full furnace replacement in Las Vegas typically costs between $3,800 and $7,500, depending on the efficiency rating, the size of your home, and how much ductwork modification is needed. Most replacements in the Vegas valley take one full day once the equipment arrives, and we carry units from Lennox, Rheem, and Goodman so you’re not locked into whatever a single distributor had in stock. If your furnace is over 15 years old or the heat exchanger has cracked, replacement usually makes more financial sense than another repair. Call (725) 726-3813 and we’ll give you a written price before any work begins.
Coldharbour Heating & Air has been replacing furnaces in Las Vegas since 2003, and we’re an independently owned and operated member of the Kingswell network. Our parent service page covers Heating & Furnace in Las Vegas in broader detail, but this page is about replacement specifically: when it makes sense, what it costs, and how we handle the job from first call to final walkthrough. The name Coldharbour comes from the old roadside shelters where travelers waited out bad weather. Comfort in any season is the job, even in a city where winter only lasts about six weeks but those weeks can get down into the 30s at night.
When You Need Furnace Replacement
Some furnaces can be repaired economically for years. Others are at the point where every fix is just buying time. Here’s what pushes most Las Vegas homeowners toward replacement:
- The furnace is 15 years old or older. Even a well-maintained furnace loses efficiency and reliability past the 15-year mark. In Summerlin and Green Valley, we see plenty of original 2000s-era units that are on their last legs.
- The heat exchanger has cracked. This is the big one. A cracked heat exchanger can leak carbon monoxide into your home. In most cases, the cost of replacing the heat exchanger on an older furnace is high enough that a new system makes more sense.
- Repair bills in the last two years have added up to more than half the cost of a new unit. If you’ve already spent $1,800 keeping a 20-year-old furnace alive, that money would have been better applied toward replacement.
- Your furnace is a 56% or 80% AFUE model and your gas bills spike every December and January. New high-efficiency furnaces run at 90% AFUE or better, which means less money going to Southwest Gas every winter night.
- The furnace cycles on and off constantly or can’t keep the house at the temperature you set. In Henderson and North Las Vegas, older homes with undersized or failing furnaces struggle when the overnight low drops to freezing.
- Carbon monoxide detectors have gone off. If this happens, shut the furnace down, ventilate the house, and call us. We inspect first and recommend replacement only if it’s genuinely warranted.
If any of these sound familiar, that doesn’t automatically mean replacement. We’ll always give you an honest assessment. Some furnaces just need a part or two. The difference is that we’ll put the numbers in writing so you can compare repair versus replacement without pressure.
Our Furnace Replacement Process
Replacing a furnace isn’t a one-size-fits-all job. It starts with a load calculation, not just a guess based on square footage. Here’s how it works from start to finish:
- Phone consultation and home walkthrough. You call (725) 726-3813 and talk to a live person, any hour of any day. We schedule a visit in a firm window, not a four-hour spread. During the walkthrough, we measure the home, check the existing ductwork, and look at the current furnace setup.
- Load calculation and equipment recommendation. A load calculation accounts for your home’s square footage, ceiling height, window count and orientation, insulation levels, and even how much sun your walls absorb in the Vegas summer. That tells us exactly how many BTUs the new furnace needs to deliver. Too big is just as bad as too small.
- Written price before work begins. The Kingswell Way says the price comes before the work, not after. We hand you a written quote that includes the furnace, any needed ductwork changes, the thermostat if you want one, labor, permits, and haul-away of the old unit. That number does not change at the door.
- Furnace removal and equipment installation. Our background-checked, uniformed technicians arrive in the window we gave you. They disconnect and remove the old furnace, fit the new unit, connect gas lines and electrical, and make sure the flue and drainage are correct. The work area gets drop cloths and shoe covers.
- Startup, testing, and walkthrough. We fire the furnace, test every safety switch, check gas pressure, and verify proper airflow. Then we walk you through the new system: how the thermostat works, where the filter goes, and what the efficiency rating means on your utility bills.
- Written guarantee and job-site cleanup. The 365-Day Done Right Promise goes on paper before our technician leaves. If anything about the install isn’t right within a full year, we come back and fix it at no charge. The old furnace, packaging, and any debris leave with us. The job site is cleaner than we found it.
Furnace Replacement Pricing in Las Vegas
Furnace replacement in Las Vegas runs a wide range because “furnace replacement” can mean a basic single-stage swap or a full high-efficiency install with new ductwork. Here’s what we typically see across the valley:
| Replacement Type | Typical Price Range | What’s Included |
|---|---|---|
| Basic 80% AFUE single-stage furnace | $3,800 – $4,900 | Furnace, standard installation, haul-away, permit |
| High-efficiency 96% AFUE two-stage furnace | $5,200 – $6,500 | Furnace, condensate drain work, installation, haul-away, permit |
| High-efficiency variable-speed furnace | $6,000 – $7,500 | Premium furnace, improved air comfort, installation, haul-away, permit |
| Furnace plus coil (if you want AC ready) | Add $800 – $1,500 | Evaporator coil matched to the new furnace |
| Ductwork modification | $600 – $2,500 | Depends on how much existing ducting needs to change |
What moves the price most is the efficiency rating and whether any ductwork needs adaptation. A furnace from Goodman tends to land at the lower end of the range while a Lennox high-efficiency unit lands at the higher end. Rheem sits nicely in between. None of these are “cheap” versus “expensive,” they’re simply different balance points of initial cost versus long-term gas savings.
Every quote we give in Las Vegas includes the furnace, labor, permit, haul-away of the old equipment, and the written guarantee. Estimates are free. Call (725) 726-3813 and we’ll come out, take measurements, and hand you a price before any work begins.
FAQs – Furnace Replacement
Is it cheaper to repair or replace my furnace?
As a rule of thumb, multiply the age of the furnace by the cost of the repair. If that number exceeds $5,000, replacement is usually the better financial move. A $400 repair on a 10-year-old furnace is worth doing. A $600 repair on an 18-year-old furnace is money that would be better spent toward a new system. Call (725) 726-3813 and we’ll give you the numbers for both options before you decide.
How long does furnace replacement take in Las Vegas?
A standard furnace replacement takes one full day, usually 6 to 8 hours from arrival to final walkthrough. If we need to modify ductwork or run a new condensate drain for a high-efficiency unit, it can stretch to a day and a half. We’ll give you a firm window before the technician arrives, not an all-day “sometime between 8 and 5” promise.
What size furnace do I need for my Las Vegas home?
The answer depends on a load calculation, not just square footage. A 2,000 square foot home in Summerlin with good insulation might need a 60,000 BTU furnace, while a 2,000 square foot home in older North Las Vegas with drafty windows might need 80,000 BTU. We run the calculation every time. Oversized furnaces waste gas and short-cycle; undersized furnaces run constantly on cold nights.
Can you replace my furnace today?
In most cases, we can schedule replacement within 48 hours of your initial call, and during winter cold snaps we keep common furnace sizes in local stock. That said, ordering a specific Lennox or Rheem high-efficiency model can add two to three days. Call (725) 726-3813 and we’ll tell you exactly what’s available right now.
