Goodman Ductwork Repair: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide

Goodman ductwork repair in Las Vegas typically runs $150 – $650 depending on what failed: loose connections, crushed flex runs, torn insulation, or leaking plenum joints. We stock Goodman-compatible duct fittings, collars, mastic, and flex duct on our trucks, so most repairs happen same-day. The usual tip-off is a room that won’t cool evenly or a utility bill that climbed for no obvious reason.

Here’s what we see most often in Las Vegas homes: the attic is 130 degrees in July, the flex duct sags between supports, and a connection at the supply plenum pulls loose. That gap dumps conditioned air into the attic, the system runs longer, and one bedroom stays ten degrees warmer than the living room. The Goodman unit itself is usually fine. The ductwork is what’s bleeding performance.

We also carry ductwork repair parts for Carrier, Trane, and Lennox systems, but this page is specifically for homeowners with Goodman equipment.

Which Goodman Models This Applies To

Goodman ductwork isn’t model-specific the way a blower motor or control board is. The duct connections on a GMVC96 furnace, a GSX16 air conditioner, a ARUF air handler, or a packaged GPG14 unit all tie into the same standard sizes of round pipe, flex duct, and plenum boxes. What matters is the duct diameter and connection style, not the serial number of the condensing unit outside.

The gotcha we run into often: Goodman systems installed before roughly 2015 in Las Vegas frequently used R-4.2 flex duct, which is now below code for attics in Clark County. Current Title 24 and local amendments require R-6 or R-8 insulation on flex in unconditioned attic spaces. So a “duct repair” sometimes means replacing a short run of R-4.2 with R-6, not just taping the old tear. If the existing flex is brittle and the inner liner has separated from the insulation layer, patching is a waste of money.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: Goodman doesn’t manufacture flex duct, collars, or mastic themselves. They specify ductwork through their installation guidelines, but the materials come from duct supply manufacturers like Atco, JP Lamborn, or Thermaflex. So “Goodman-compatible” really means the right diameter, insulation R-value, and UL listing for the air handler you have. We use UL-181-rated tape and mastic on every joint, regardless of brand.

Signs Your Goodman Ductwork Repair Is Failing

  • One or two rooms are always warmer than the rest of the house. A disconnected or kinked flex run means those rooms aren’t getting the airflow the Goodman blower is pushing. Closing other vents to compensate usually makes it worse by increasing static pressure.
  • Your dust load jumped and the filter is clogging faster. A gap in a return duct pulls attic air, insulation fibers, and dust directly into the system. If you’re seeing pink or yellow insulation crumbs on the filter, a return leak is almost certain.
  • The AC runs longer but the house isn’t cooler. Conditioned air leaking into a 130-degree attic is just energy leaving the building. Your Goodman unit works harder to hit the thermostat setpoint, which shortens its life and raises your NV Energy bill.
  • You hear a whistling or flapping sound from the attic. Air moving through a loose connection or a collapsed inner liner makes distinct noises. Flapping usually means the inner liner has torn loose and is rattling in the airflow.
  • Rooms feel stuffy or smell musty when the AC comes on. A return-side leak pulls attic air into the system, and that air carries whatever is in your attic: dust, fiberglass particles, sometimes pest droppings. That’s an air quality issue, not just a comfort issue.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Most Goodman ductwork repairs in Las Vegas fall between $150 and $650 installed. A simple reconnection and seal at a supply boot runs $150 – $250. Replacing a sagging 10-foot run of R-6 flex with new collars and mastic runs $250 – $450. A return plenum rebuild with a new filter rack can push toward $650 if the original was poorly sized or rotted.

Repair Type Typical Las Vegas Installed Price
Reseal a disconnected supply duct $150 – $250
Replace one flex run (10 – 15 ft, R-6) $250 – $450
Repair return plenum leak $200 – $400
Replace damaged supply plenum $400 – $650

Every quote includes the written price before work starts, the materials, the labor, cleanup, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the repair fails within a year, we come back and correct it at no charge. No homeowner in Las Vegas should pay twice for the same duct repair. Victor Mancini has been clear on that since day one.

DIY or Call Us?

Ductwork repair doesn’t carry the same injury risk as springs or electrical work, but it’s still not a weekend project for most people. What you can safely do: look at the flex runs you can see from the attic access, check for obvious disconnections or kinks, and make note of which vents feel weak. What goes wrong with DIY: using the wrong tape (standard duct tape degrades and fails within months in a Las Vegas attic), mis-sizing a replacement run (undersized flex chokes airflow and raises static pressure), and missing a second leak while fixing the first one.

You also need R-6 or R-8 flex, not whatever is cheap at the home center. And if the leak is inside a finished ceiling chase or a tight attic with blown insulation, the job stops being straightforward. Call (725) 726-3813 and we’ll give you an honest read on whether it’s worth your weekend.
