Goodman AC installation in Las Vegas typically runs between $3,500 and $7,500 for a complete system, depending on the size of your home, the efficiency rating you choose, and whether your ductwork needs attention. We install Goodman systems as an independent Goodman service provider in Las Vegas, and most full installations take one to two days once the equipment arrives. Our written price is handed to you before any work starts, and it does not change at the door.
This page is written for Las Vegas homeowners who already own a Goodman unit, are considering buying one, or have been told by another company that their Goodman needs replacement. How Goodman Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Goodman builds a dependable, no-frills system, and we install them regularly in Las Vegas. But like every brand, certain lines have failure patterns we see again and again here in the desert. Here’s what we encounter most often:
- Goodman GSX series capacitor failures. The GSX13 and GSX14 are the most common Goodman condensers we install in Las Vegas, and their capacitors are usually the first component to go. The heat here, especially in areas like Summerlin and Henderson where the unit sits in direct afternoon sun, bakes the capacitor’s dielectric fluid, and one day the compressor won’t start. It’s a $150 to $300 fix if caught early. Left alone, the compressor overheats and you’re looking at a full system replacement. We test every capacitor as part of installation prep so you’re not finding out in August.
- Goodman ARUF air handler drain pan cracking. The ARUF line, common in older Las Vegas homes, has a plastic drain pan that gets brittle from the dry, hot attic air. Once it cracks, water drips through the ceiling drywall, and by the time you notice the stain, the damage is done. When we install a new Goodman system, we check the pan and will often replace it preventatively during installation, even if it hasn’t cracked yet, because we know what three more summers in a Las Vegas attic will do to it.
- Goodman GMSS furnace heat exchanger corrosion. If you have a Goodman gas furnace paired with your AC, like the GMSS96, the heat exchanger can develop micro-cracks from the constant cycle of hot exhaust and cold intake air. The first sign is a faint burning smell or a flickering pilot. This is a safety issue, and it’s one reason a Goodman AC installation in Las Vegas often makes more sense as a full system replacement, since a cracked exchanger means the furnace has to go anyway.
- Goodman GSZ heat pump reversing valve sticking. The GSZ14 and GSZ16 heat pumps are popular in Las Vegas because they heat and cool. Their reversing valve, the part that switches the system between modes, can stick shut when a bit of debris or sludge gets into the refrigerant line. The symptom is the system blowing hot air in July, or cold air in January. It’s a $350 to $650 repair, but if the system is over 10 years old, we’ll often recommend replacement instead, because that valve is a sign the refrigerant circuit is degrading.
- Goodman DSXC condensing unit coil fin corrosion. The DSXC line has a dense coil that holds heat well, but in Las Vegas, the alkaline dust from the desert combines with condensation and eats away the aluminum fins. By year six or seven, the coil is frosted over and the system can’t shed heat. We see this most often in neighborhoods near Red Rock Canyon and out toward Blue Diamond, where the wind kicks up more mineral dust. A new coil costs $600 to $1,200, but for a unit that age, the smarter move is frequently a new Goodman AC installation with a coil that has a corrosion-resistant coating.

Our Goodman AC Installation Process
Here’s how a Goodman AC installation in Las Vegas goes when you call Cold Harbour Heating and Air Las Vegas:
- 1
Call and tell us what the Goodman system is doing. A live person answers. We ask about the age of the unit, the square footage of the house, and whether any rooms stay warmer than others in summer. No voicemail tree, no call center.
- 2
On-site load calculation and inspection. We measure the house, check the ductwork, look at the existing line set, and run a Manual J load calculation. We don’t eyeball it. The size of the new Goodman unit is determined by the house, not by a rule of thumb.
- 3
Written price before anything is ordered or installed. We hand you a written price for the equipment, the labor, the line set, the pad, the electrical work, the thermostat, and any duct repairs. What’s on the paper is what you pay. There is no surprise line item at the end.
- 4
Equipment order and install date. Goodman equipment is typically in our warehouse or arrives within a few days. We give you a firm installation date and a two-hour arrival window. We show up in that window.
- 5
Installation day. Our background-checked, uniformed technicians remove the old equipment, set the new Goodman condenser on a level pad, run the line set, connect the electrical, and pull a proper vacuum on the system before charging it with refrigerant. We explain every step as we go, in plain English.
- 6
Test, clean, and hand over the paperwork. We run the system through a full cycle, check the temperature split, and verify the charge. We leave the area cleaner than we found it. You get the manufacturer’s warranty registration and our written guarantee before we leave.

AfterWhat Goodman AC Installation Costs in Las Vegas
The honest price range for a full Goodman AC installation in Las Vegas is $3,500 to $7,500. Where your job lands depends on a few things:
- System size and efficiency. A 2-ton Goodman GSX14 for a small ranch-style home in central Las Vegas might run $3,500 to $4,500 installed. A 5-ton, high-efficiency GSXC18 for a larger two-story in Summerlin can push past $7,000.
- Ductwork condition. If your ducts are old, leaky, or undersized, sealing or replacing them adds $800 to $3,000 to the job. Skipping this step is why some Las Vegas homeowners get a new system and still get uneven cooling.
- Heat pump vs. standard AC. A Goodman GSZ heat pump costs $500 to $1,200 more than a straight AC system, but it heats and cools, which matters on cold desert nights in January.
- Electrical and code work. Some older Las Vegas homes need a new disconnect box or a breaker upgrade for a new Goodman unit, which adds $200 to $600.
The only way to know your exact price is to have us measure the house. Estimates are free, and the price we hand you in writing is the price you pay. Call (725) 726-3813.
Why Las Vegas Homeowners Call Cold Harbour Heating and Air Las Vegas for Goodman Work
Victor Mancini and our crew have been installing and repairing Goodman systems in Las Vegas long enough to know what this climate does to a condenser coil, a capacitor, and a plastic drain pan. We’re an independently owned and operated member of the Kingswell network, and we operate by a set of written promises we call The Kingswell Way: say the price before the work, show up in the window given, leave the place cleaner than found, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails. Every Goodman repair we make carries a 365-Day Done Right Promise. If that repair fails within a year, we return and correct it at no charge, guaranteed on paper before we leave. We also work on Carrier, Trane, and Lennox systems, so if you have a mixed-brand house, the technician who shows up can handle whatever is in front of him.
FAQs
No. Goodman’s warranty covers the equipment, not the installer, as long as the installation follows Goodman’s published installation guidelines and the system is registered. We register every Goodman system we install on your behalf, and we document the installation so the warranty stays intact. As an independent Goodman service provider, we follow the manufacturer’s specifications to the letter.
A standard Goodman AC installation in Las Vegas takes one to two days. That includes removing the old unit, setting the new condenser and air handler, running the line set, completing the electrical work, pulling a vacuum, charging the system, and testing the full cycle. If ductwork repairs are needed, that can add a day. We give you a firm installation date and a two-hour arrival window before we schedule.
The rule of thumb we use is this: if the Goodman unit is under 10 years old and the repair is under $650, repair it. If it’s over 12 years old in the Las Vegas heat, or the repair is a compressor, a coil, or a cracked heat exchanger, replacement is usually the smarter money. A new Goodman with a fresh 10-year parts warranty and a properly sized load calculation will outperform a patched-up 14-year-old unit every summer. Call (725) 726-3813 and we’ll walk you through the actual numbers for your situation, no charge for the estimate.
Goodman parts are among the easiest to source in the Las Vegas Valley, which matters when your AC dies on a 110-degree Saturday. The condenser capacitors, contactors, fan motors, and control boards for the GSX and GSZ lines are stocked by local supply houses, so we can often complete a Goodman AC repair the same day. Some older ARUF air handler parts take a day or two, but we tell you that upfront before we start.
The GSX is a straight air conditioner. It cools your house, and if you need heat, you’re using a furnace or electric heat strips. The GSZ is a heat pump. It cools in summer and heats in winter by reversing the refrigerant flow, and it’s often a better fit for Las Vegas homes that don’t have gas service or want to avoid running electric heat strips. The GSZ costs a bit more upfront, but the Las Vegas winter heating bill is lower. We’ll show you both options, with the dollar difference, before you sign anything.
If your Goodman system is giving you trouble, or you just want to know what a new one costs in your specific house, call (725) 726-3813 for a free, written estimate. Tell me what it’s doing, and I’ll tell you what it costs – no guesswork, no runaround.
